We knew that the sophomore season for Mesa High School's rising superstar point guard Kyi Kyi Miles would be amazing, after a freshman season where he earned an honor as the MAX Preps National Freshman of the Year, but no one knew it would be this dominant. The Mesa Fear The Hop Tournament begins every season with a bang, and so has the 6-foot-4 sophomore guard Miles. This week, in his first two games to start the high school season and the tournament, Miles has exploded for back-to-back 40 point outbursts in his team's two consecutive blowout wins. Miles and his Mesa teammates have reached the semi-finals of their event again, after winning the event last year.
Last season, Mesa won the event behind an MVP performance from Miles - defeating Chandler High School in the tournament final. This season's field of teams is much deeper, and they will face their toughest test of the early season on Friday in a semi-final match-up with a loaded Willow Canyon High School program - a game that will match up Miles with other top-rated 2028 point guard prospect, sophomore point guard Maurice Carter. Carter and Miles were teammates all spring and summer with the Arizona Unity EYBL sponsored club program.
Miles formerly received a #6 national ranking by ESPN for the 2028 Class, and is currently ranked as the #10 overall prospect in America's 2028 Class. Miles is rated as the nation's #1 PG prospect in the class by ESPN. After a tremendous freshman season, where he led his Mesa program to a 6A State Championship runner-up finish, Miles was also named as the MaxPreps Freshman Player of the Year and selected for the MaxPreps Freshman All-American Team. Miles has established himself as one of the most elite young prospects in the country, and an elite national prospect in America's 2028 Class.
Miles has a large number of Division-I offers already for himself. He lists offers from Kansas, Texas, TCU, North Carolina State, Kansas, Stanford, Arizona State, Creighton, Texas Tech, Providence, Cal, UNLV, Pepperdine, New Mexico, San Diego, San Diego State, UT-Arlington, Grand Canyon, San Jose State, University of San Francisco, Florida A&M and Sacramento State. It’s only a matter of time before nearly every Division-I program in the country extends an offer.
Miles is set to have a big sophomore campaign, after averaging 19.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as a mere freshman in the state's top 6A Division. Miles led Mesa all the way to the 6A State Championship game last season - a remarkable achievement for a freshman. He has returned this sophomore season for an encore - looking to win it all this season.
Miles is widely recognized and is regarded by many as the top overall point guard prospect in the country for the 2028 class. His game is polished well beyond his years, combining a superb offensive skillset with an advanced feel for the game and a high basketball IQ. Miles is the best pure point guard of his size that have scouted in the state of Arizona in my (30) year career, and that is really saying something. It is still very early for Miles, but his college recruitment and legend is heating up fast. The future is bright for Kyi Kyi Miles, and his story is just getting started.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Miles is a rare find as he has excellent size as a point guard prospect - standing at 6-4 in height with a long, rangy physical frame. He has an excellent handle of the basketball and feel for the game, a lost art among today's players. As a result he makes players around him better with the ball in his hands, and he enjoys making the pass. He is a floor general with the ball and is vocal on the floor, also a nice attribute. He is an exceptional scorer that can score at all (3) levels, with a pure shooting stroke that has nice range on his shot. He will only become much more effective over time in all facets of his game, as he continues to mature and get stronger physically, but he has played up throughout his life and against top-rated competition, which has benefited him a great deal already as a player. Miles lets the game come to him and he does not force the action often. He has command presence on the basketball court. Miles is next in line among young national elite-level prospects, and he is part of a very loaded 2028 Class in the state of Arizona and nationally. Considered as the best PG prospect in America's 2028 Class. A future pro prospect.
