When the high school career began for stud 6-foot-4 freshman guard Kyi Kyi Miles, it was widely apparent that Miles would quickly become a superstar in the Arizona high school basketball ranks. After a tremendous middle school career, which included a recent explosion on the Nike EYBL circuit before the start to his freshman season, Miles was one of the top incoming freshman prospects in Arizona history. Miles made a tremendous announcement late in the summer (2024) when he decided to attend Mesa High School - sending shockwaves through the state's basketball community. Miles' announcement to attend Mesa High School was huge, and made a lot of people wonder if he had made the right decision, especially with almost endless options for himself for high school.

Miles has not looked back since, as he has already turned in one of the most impressive freshman seasons in the history of the state. Miles has had an amazing freshman season for himself and Head Coach Scott Stansberry and his dedicated coaching staff. Miles led the state of Arizona for freshman in numerous statistical categories and has already received numerous post-season Region honors for his performance this high school season. Miles has poured in serious numbers as a mere freshman - averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals per/contest. This is serious production as a freshman prospect, especially for a quality team and program as the Mesa program, which coaches their players hard and to play the right way. Miles performed these numbers under a controlled environment and without forcing the issue. He let the game come to him all season, and was also an excellent supporter of his Mesa teammates.

As a result, Miles has led Mesa High School (21-7) to the Final Four of the 6A Division State Playoffs. Mesa advanced to the 6A State Semi-Finals after a 51-37 victory over Pinnacle High School on Friday evening. Mesa will now face a tough and battle-tested Liberty High School team in the semi-finals for the 6A State Championship. It will be a nice test for Mesa in the semi-finals. These two programs actually faced off in our previous Arizona Preps Fall Showcase (October 2024), so it will make for a very exciting semi-final match-up.

Miles is on another level, and is worthy of a Top 10 national ranking in America's 2028 Class. When ESPN soon releases their national player rankings for the 2028 class, Miles should be regarded as the top point guard prospect in the class.

As a result of the excitement that has been generated by this young phenom, college programs are getting in line, as numerous Division-I programs have already extended offers to Miles. He already possesses offers from Texas, Stanford, Arizona State University, Creighton, Texas Tech, University of Texas-Arlington and University of San Francisco. It is just a matter of time before just about every Division-I program in the country will offer this young man.

Miles is a rare find as he has excellent size as a point guard prospect - standing at 6-foot-4 in height and possessing a long, rangy physical frame. He has an excellent handle of the basketball and feel for the game, a lost art among today's players. As a result he makes players around him better with the ball in his hands, and he enjoys making the pass. He is a floor general with the ball and is vocal on the floor, also a nice attribute. He is an exceptional scorer that can score at all (3) levels, with a pure shooting stroke that has nice range on his shot. He will only become much more effective over time in all facets of his game, as he continues to mature and get stronger physically, but he has played up throughout his life and against top-rated competition, which has benefited him a great deal already as a player. Miles lets the game come to him and he does not force the action often. He has command presence on the basketball court.

Miles began the season with a big MVP-performance in the 2024 Mesa Fear The Hop Tournament, after leading Mesa to the Tournament Championship. He will now look to lead Mesa to a 6A State Championship in his freshman season.

6A State Playoff Roundup

Liberty High School (18-10) advanced to the 6A State Semi-Finals on Friday evening, after a 65-53 playoff victory over Hamilton High School. #2 seed Liberty had a 71-54 victory over Mesa Mountain View in the first round, and now will face Mesa in the semi-finals.

In the other 6A State Semi-Final match-up, #5 seed Brophy Prep (17-11) and #1 seed Highland High School (19-10) will make for a very exciting contest, as both teams are well coached and compete hard. Brophy Prep is the deeper and more talented teams from top to bottom, but the Highland team competes hard defensively and makes shots. The game will also be played at Highland High School, so Brophy will need to overcome the home playoff atmosphere at Highland to take down the top overall seeded team in these 6A State Playoffs.

Brophy defeated West Point on Friday evening 63-55, and advanced to the 6A State Semi's, while Highland defeated Williams Field in blowout fashion, 71-44.
