Pinnacle High School's 6-foot-8, 220-pound senior post Cody McDavis has decided that he likes each of his current division-I scholarship offers on the table - enough that McDavis will opt out of playing on the club circuit this spring and make his decision among his three offers.
McDavis had planned to compete on the club circuit this spring in an attempt to gain more exposure to college coaches during the spring evaluation period. Wednesday evening, after meeting with his mother and others close to him, McDavis decided that he would make a decision on his college recruitment soon.
"I am happy with the offers I currently have and will be deciding soon," said McDavis.
McDavis currently has scholarship offers on the table from UC-Davis, Northern Colorado and UC-Riverside.
When asked if he had a leader in his college recruitment at this time, McDavis replied that he likes Northern Colorado and UC-Riverside as his current leaders.
McDavis had his best season this year while helping lead Pinnacle HS to a strong 2011-2012 season and a 30-4 overall record.
McDavis has excellent potential as a college prospect as he possesses a very strong and athletic frame. Standing 6-8 in heigth and possessing a good-size body already for the college level, he will simply need to continue to improve his overall feel for the game to reach his full potential as a player.
McDavis is also an impressive student, and carries a 3.8 CUM GPA.
We will continue to follow McDavis' college recruitment closely this spring, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: McDavis has excellent potential as a college prospect as he possesses a very strong and athletic frame. Standing 6-8 in heigth and possessing a good-size body already for the college level, he will simply need to continue to improve his overall feel for the game to reach his full potential as a player. His best asset is his soft shooting stroke from the perimeter, which he shoots with consistency. He is also a good low-post scorer with solid low post footwork. He is a stretch four-man that should only continue to improve with more touches of the basketball and more time in the gym. McDavis is an active rebounder that enjoys physical contact. He is also a very strong finisher around the basket, and also rebounds outside of his area. McDavis runs the floor very well and is a very good athlete for his size, as he has the physical tools to become a tremendous talent. He also has excellent upside for the future. His best years are clearly well ahead of him.
