The time has finally come for Gilbert High School's talented 6-foot-6 rising senior wing prospect Chris Bowling, as he receives his first division-I scholarship offer. While other prospects in the class have seen a lot of college recruitment early, for Bowling the recruiting process has been very slow. Bowling is expecting a big and busy recruiting month of July for himself, so firs first offer was exactly what he needed to kick off his summer.
Last weekend, after speaking with Texas Pan-American assistant coach Jai Steadman, Bowling received a scholarship offer. Steadman was the former head coach at local prep power - Westwind Prep Academy.
Bowling is definitely looking to reel in numerous scholarship offers this July, as he is a very talented prospect in the class. For Bowling, the first offer will be one to remember, although many more offers should soon pour in, now as college coaches begin to focus on the 2016 class.
Bowling will travel next month to California with his club program, the Arizona Magic Elite, for the Pangos Summer Sweet 16 (July 10-12), to Texas for the Great American Shootout (July 16-19) and then to Las Vegas for the Fab 48 (Juy 23-26).
Bowling is also an excellent student and carries better than 3.8 CUM GPA. Look for Bowling to catch fire soon this summer in his college recruitment and generate loads of recruiting interest for himself.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Bowling's length and athleticism are nice attributes that he possesses - making him a very attractive prospect. But when you consider his nice ability to shoot the basketball and stretch the defense with excellent range on his shot, he becomes a formidable prospect. Bowling is still really thin physically, but is still very young for his age and should fill out nicely over time. As he matures physically he should develop nicely at the next level – making him a nice recruiting target. He is a good ball handler and passer – a fundamentally sound performer. A solid rebounder but as he gains more physical strength and size, this is an area of his game that should pick up. A solid defender that uses his length to get his hands on balls and deflect passes. A very good overall prospect that is currently underrecruited.
