Hillcrest Academy has received a lot of attention as of late regarding their tremendous level of talent on their roster, but lately, the program also received attention from the NCAA regarding the accredidation at their school. On Wednesday, Arizona Preps learned that superstar 6-foot-11 sophomore post Marvin Bagley and his younger brother, 8th grader Marcus Bagley, have left the Hillcrest program. Marvin Bagley Sr., an assistant coach at Hillcrest, will be leaving the program as well.
Bagley is coming off an amazing 52-point performance last week in a win over Just Hoops by Hillcrest, but now the Bagley family will be looking for a new school. It is still unclear as to where the Bagley family will land.
A return to Corona Del Sol HS seems unlikely, as a result of the AIA transfer rule, so the Bagleys could land at another prep school. Venturing to Las Vegas for Findlay Prep could be an option, but it is unlikely that the Bagley family will be willing to move outside of the state - but maybe they will. Currently, many prep programs are scrambling for an opportunity to land the Bagley family, but I am sure they already know where they are headed.
No prospect in the country, at any level, has the potential of Marvin Bagley, as he is now the consensus #1 player in America's 2018 class by every major national scouting service. Many basketball scouts in the country also have Bagley as the top overall prospect in America - regardless of class.
Younger brother Marcus Bagley is also following suit of his older brother. A mere 8th grader, Marcus is currently recognized by many scouting services as the #1 overall 2020 prospect in the country.
It will be very interesting to see where the Bagley family lands next. I will continue to follow this story closely and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
