Maryvale High School's gifted 5-foot-10 senior point guard Adrian "Ace" Stubbs is a superb talent that is coming off an excellent spring and summer with his club program, The Factory, coached by longtime highly successful club coach Kenny Mullins. After a tremendous junior season for his high school program, Stubbs did not slow down one bit. Instead, he carried over his exceptional play right on to the Puma NXTPRO club circuit, where he thrived and led his club program to numerous strong finishes and performances. In his final event of the summer, Stubbs earned NXTPRO Tournament MVP honors after leading his Factory program to a tournament championship. Stubbs is the real deal and I believe him to be a very underrated prospect that college coaches need to take a very hard look at this fall, and as he heads into his final senior season.
Stubbs became a household name last season, as he poured in numerous elite performances throughout the high school season. Stubbs had many high-scoring outbursts throughout his junior season, and then absolutely exploded in an exciting contest with a very tough Liberty High School program. In an amazing 77-75 road win on a last second shot by Stubbs, he would tally an amazing game-high 56 points in the victory - one of the best individual performances in the history of our state.
Stubbs would continue his terrific season and lead his Maryvale ballclub to a strong 15-12 season. Maryvale High School Head Coach Jeremy Smith and his staff have done an excellent job at rebuilding the Maryvale program, and the play of Stubbs has been the key component. Stubbs has brought back life to a program and a community that needs him and respects him highly. Stubbs poured in some of the best individual numbers in the country last season - averaging an eye-popping 27.3 points, 5.8 assists, 8 rebounds and 6.3 steals per/game. Show me better numbers from a guard prospect in America.
This senior season will be a tremendous one for Stubbs, whom I believe will have a senior campaign much like that of former Prescott High School superstar guard and now University of New Mexico freshman guard Uriah Tenette. Stubbs will post amazing numbers all season long, which should raise his attention with college coaches.
Stubbs is a very underrated prospect still, although he has now received his first offer from Embry-Riddle University. Many more college programs are inquiring about Stubbs as a college prospect, but I believe numerous college programs will now begin to recruit him, and, if he doesn't sign this fall, he will be come a hot commodity to college programs throughout the high school season.
In last year's Arizona Preps Fall Showcase event, Stubbs was among the very best overall individual performers in the event, with (50) different high school programs in participation. Stubbs is a big-time talent and is well deserving of all the attention that he can get - one of my absolute favorite prospects in Arizona's 2026 Class.
Stubbs is set to have a huge senior season, and I look forward to following him all season long, as he looks to take his Maryvale program to the top of the 6A standings in his final season. I will also continue to follow his college recruitment, and bring you any updates on him as they continue to develop.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Stubbs is a very unique guard prospect that has a gift as a player and playmaker. His exploits on the basketball court are tremendous and unique to the game, as he plays with a true passion and love for the game. He is intense on the court, on both ends of the floor, and is a focused, two-way player. As a result, his size does not limit him, as he competes very hard and plays much bigger than his size suggests. He is a serious ball handler and passer that has an excellent feel for the game. With the ball in his hands, he is a magician of sorts and is absolutely a joy to watch perform. He makes players around him better and pushes the ball up the floor to the open man. He is an excellent scorer for his size, and is able to score from all (3) levels. His ability to create off the dribble is immense also, and he can make plays for himself and others, almost at will. A strong rebounder from the guard position, and an excellent on-the-ball defender that plays to win and with a purpose. An excellent sleeper guard prospect that competes at a high level and loves the game.
