As the 2025 Arizona high school basketball season comes to a close, four teams across different divisions have risen above the competition to claim state championship glory. Each program battled through adversity, showcased top talent and earned the right to be called champions. Here’s a breakdown of how Valley Christian (Copper Division), Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (3A), Rancho Solano Prep (2A) and Fort Thomas (1A) captured their respective state titles this season.
Valley Christian Dominates the Copper Division
Few programs in Arizona high school basketball can match the rich tradition of Valley Christian High School and 2025 was another historic year for the Trojans. Under the tremendous leadership of legendary Head Coach Greg Haagsma, Valley Christian delivered a dominant season - finishing with a 26-3 record and running through the Copper Division playoffs with authority.
In the state championship game, the Trojans defeated Gilbert Christian High School, 70-49. Valley Christian was led this season by the overall play of talented 6-foot-3 junior Colby Jessup (pictured), 6-foot-8 senior Carson Grier (pictured) and 6-foot-5 senior Kyle Grier.
With another championship trophy added to their trophy case, Valley Christian continues to set the standard for success in Arizona small-school basketball.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Makes History in 3A
The Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions had a season to remember, securing their first-ever 3A State Championship, after an intense battle with Palo Verde High School in the title game. A deep playoff run fueled by relentless defense and clutch performances defined their journey.
This team’s defensive intensity and resilience and their full-court pressure wore opponents down throughout the playoffs. Pusch Ridge’s title victory marks a new era of success for the program.
Rancho Solano Prep Runs Through the 2A Competition
Rancho Solano Prep came into the 2025 season with one goal: finish the job. The Mustangs delivered on that mission, capturing the 2A State Championship with a nice 53-44 championship victory over Fountain Hills High School.
Rancho Solano was led by a well balanced attack all season, but seniors Matthew Quinlan and Ethan Stokes were the catalysts for this team.
Rancho Solano has cemented itself as a powerhouse in the 2A Division.
The Gregory School Wins 1A Crown
In Arizona 1A basketball, #6 seed The Gregory School upset #1 seed Seligman High School in the State Championship final, 67-57. The Gregory School had an amazing run in the tournament upsetting everyone in their path, including #3 seed Valley Lutheran and also #2 seed Fort Thomas High School.
Congratulations from our Arizona Preps' staff to each of our State Champions!
