Southern Arizona Prep’s talented and athletic 6-foot-7 junior post Achol Magot’s stock has been flying through the roof lately. Magot is a double-double machine, as she has amazing shot blocking and rebounding ability. I witnessed her impressive defensive presence during her high school season, as she went for 24 rebounds and 12 blocks in the game I observed.
One concern is her offensive game, however with putting in hard work with her Coach and Trainer Vince Lombardi, her finishing ability and mid-range jumper has improved tremendously. Her athleticism and strength are impressive, as she looks to run the floor and keep up with quicker competition. She is currently playing for the Arizona Firestorm program on the Adidas Circuit.
Her game has been loud all Spring, as she has been putting up tremendous numbers. Her stat line, size, and athleticism has caught the attention of the Texas Tech coaching staff. The Lady Raiders’ staff has extended Achol her first Division-I offer. I anticipate many other colleges to fall in line, as her stock has skyrocketed going into the busy recruiting Summer evaluation period.
Magot is an excellent high major prospect, as she has a great feel for the game to go with her tremendous size and agility. She has impressive defensive awareness and poses a matchup nightmare for opponents on both ends of the floor. Magot cleans the glass on both ends and hustles up and down the floor. I believe she will be a well sought after prospect based on size, athleticism, and potential. I project her landing at a solid high major program, as she is a game-changer type prospect.
I will continue to follow her college recruitment closely, and bring you any more recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
